Guardian 31 July 12: High court dismisses search warrants on Robert and Vincent Tchenguiz

Search warrants against property tycoon brothers Robert and Vincent Tchenguiz, which led to dawn raids on their London homes, have been set aside.

Two senior high court judges ruled on Tuesday that the information presented by the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) during a 20-minute hearing to obtain the warrants was riddled with errors and failed to present all the facts to the sitting judge.

Sir John Thomas and Mr Justice Silber said the judge was "given an account that was not only wholly inadequate, but unfair".

However, they were keen to stress the ruling should not be used to influence the ongoing investigation into Robert Tchenguiz.
