Early Day Motion - CALL FOR ACTION by all depositors

Category: DAG Public News

The DAG Strategy Team (DST) is pleased to announce that an Early Day Motion (EDM) "Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander Isle of Man depositors and bondholders" was tabled by Bob Russell, Liberal Democrat MP for Colchester, on Tuesday 15th December (see here).

We are now calling for the active participation of all depositors to obtain maximum support from MPs.

DST has been working on this initiative for a while. Its primary purpose is to enlist cross-party support in Whitehall for our continuing plight. An EDM is "a much used device to publicise the views of individual Members of Parliament, and to demonstrate the extent of support among MPs for a particular cause or point of view”. Our aim is to force assignment of responsibility by pushing for transparency. We will be pressing for this to culminate in some form of action toward 100% recompense to all depositors and bondholders.

INDIVIDUAL DEPOSITOR ACTION REQUESTED:

We ask ALL DEPOSITORS, REGISTERED ON KSFIOMDAG.COM OR NOT to participate in these actions by getting as many MPs as possible to sign; weight of support is extremely important. Template letters to send to your MP are available here (in the publicly accessible area of the ‘Information Centre’).

ACTION 1: Please send the 1st template letter to your MP as soon as possible, and copy to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. so that we are able to co-ordinate a list of contacted MPs and follow up through a core cross party team.

ACTION 2: Please contact your MP using the reminder (2nd template letter) on the 5th January 2010 to follow up on the first contact and to ensure signing the EDM in support of you, their constituent, is on their agenda. Please update This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. accordingly.

ACTION 3: Please contact your MP again on the 11th January 2010 (3rd template letter) to ensure they have signed the EDM and update This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. accordingly.

Beyond this we will be able to track the EDM and the signatures it has received. It is our intention to then work with depositors whose MPs have not signed, to cajole them into doing so.

The lists of MPs and others contacted in this campaign will be managed by Ivan Pring (banna) who will be the recipient of the mails to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. It is important that all depositors participate directly (strength in numbers counts) and if possible, enlisting family etc. where you are no-longer UK resident, to pursue our elected representatives. Ivan will make regular postings on the discussion board keeping depositors posted on progress.
